A little more than 40 years ago, a group of believers from Richardson Heights Baptist Church felt the leadership of the Holy Spirit to begin a new plant north and west of their church to meet the spiritual needs of those moving into new homes built and to be built north of Arapaho Rd and West of Waterview. A vigorous mission began and by the summer of 1965, Crestview Mission believed the best way to honor God was to formally become a church independent of their sponsoring church. This move was wholly supported by Richardson Heights, and Crestview Baptist Church was born under the pastoral leadership of Gerald Chancellor. The church showed steady growth through the rest of the decade and into the 1970s. Numerous churches in the Southern Baptist Convention experienced a decline in the 1980s, and Crestview was one of those churches. Decline is not necessarily bad if it causes the body of believers to re-evaluate its priorities and mission. In January 1998, after months of discussion, Crestview Baptist Church and the Spring Park Mission, sponsored by Northrich Baptist Church in Richardson, agreed to merge in the hopes of defining a new mission. The members agreed to change the name of the church to Creekside Baptist to reflect a new beginning. Now, with new leadership, Creekside desires to move toward the goal of being a Great Church - not great as measured in human terms but great as measured in a servant's term: a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. We invite you to join and help shape the history to be written at the intersection of Arapaho and Waterview.
