Prelude of God's Message
From The Heart of a Preacher…August 1, 2010

Our Rock, Salvation and Rest

Very few of us can say that we have never harbored resentment toward someone who had hurt our pride. We treat others the way we want to be treated, therefore we expect a certain appreciation and respect from others, but when we don’t get it, it’s only human of us to be angry at them. In our message from God today the psalmist and King, David, had every excuse to resent others, but instead of harboring resentment or feelings of anger, he looked to God for confidence and care and turned an otherwise evil for evil situation into a greater good. One can hear the exhortation of faith in David’s words, from David’s heart, as he sings…

“He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress,
I will not be shaken”. Psalm 62:6

Through prayer and singing songs to God David was able to let go a lot of tension and emotional stress. He was so secure in his faith and in his God that he let God bring justice against anyone who attacked him, especially with lies and injustice. If you too will choose to have this same attitude it might just change your outlook on life. Besides, does it really do us any good, physically, emotionally or spiritually to confine our selves in a prison-like state just because our faith in God is weak? When Christ Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Mat. 11:28). He was talking to every person who has faith in Him. So today Dear Friends, trust in God, for God alone is Our Rock, Salvation and Rest.

Stephen H. Bryan,
The Pastor, to my good friend…how truly I love you! (III John 1-1)
